With our ‘everyone gets a game’ mentality our second XI is perfect for those that want to play competitive league cricket where the result is not the only priority.
Team History
Chelmarsh Cricket Club has been one of Shropshire’s cricketing success stories of recent years. It became apparent in 2019 that with our growth we were in a position to form our first ever second league XI. Therefore, in 2020 the Second XI was officially formed. Not even a global pandemic was able to stop us and we took the field that summer.
Our Ethos
The second XI is about giving people a game. Players should not give up their time to field for 40 overs, to not bowl, and bat 10 or 11. Our ‘everyone gets a game’ promise ensures players will either bat or they will bowl. We want players to enjoy their cricket and we will give them the opportunity to develop as cricketers by playing meaningful cricket.
The Match Day Experience
The match day atmosphere at a Second XI game is always electric, we have a loyal fans base of all ages. Opposition teams enjoy playing against us because of the way we play the game. Win or lose we always have fun.

We believe that we have a lot to offer any prospective member. Especially those that are just embarking upon their cricketing journey, wishing to start playing again after some time away from the game or those that prefer to play in a family friendly environment.
If any of this appeals to you then we hold preseason nets on a Sunday. During the season we hold training sessions at the ground on Wednesday and Thursday evenings.
